About Louisa

Louisa Barnett is an award-winning journalist with almost 15 years experience in the industry.

Born in London, Louisa was trained by the National Council for the Training of Journalists and began her career as a reporter for the Elstree & Borehamwood Times which saw her interview the likes of Simon Cowell and national TV stars in her first six months on the job.

During her time working at ‘the home of British film and television’, Louisa also broke numerous stories which went on to get picked up by the national newspapers and saw her quickly rise through the ranks as she started sidelining as a news reporter for The Daily Mirror.

At just 22, Louisa became the youngest person in the country to win the Newspaper Society’s Award for Journalist of the Year and she was soon poached by The Times where she covered some of the biggest stories in recent history including the 7/7 London bomb attacks.

Louisa’s passion however lay in entertainment and she eventually moved into showbiz news working at News International’s sister paper, The Sun, The Sunday Mirror and The Sunday People as well as stints at celebrity magazines, Closer, Heat, Reveal and OK! where she built an extensive list of contacts and broke hundreds of exclusive stories.

In 2009, Louisa was appointed News Editor of New! magazine which during her tenure, became the biggest-selling celebrity magazine in the country with record sales – constantly beating their rivals in the ABCs.

Just a year later, Louisa took the giant leap of moving to Los Angeles to pursue her love of all things entertainment where she carved-out a successful freelance career working for publications across the globe and interviewing some of the biggest A-listers in Hollywood such as Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Orlando Bloom and Drew Barrymore, as she covered high-profile red carpet events such as The Golden Globes, The Oscars and The Grammys.

During her time in Hollywood, Louisa has also broken world exclusives including George Clooney’s engagement to Amal Clooney, inside details on Brad and Angelina’s divorce and Margot Robbie’s ‘secret’ wedding to British beau, Tom Ackerley.

Louisa has made a name for herself as one of the leading showbiz journalists in the industry and regularly commentates on entertainment and celebrity gossip for Sky News and various websites including The Muse.

Louisa lives in West Hollywood with her daughter and fiance and is available for commissions, ghost writing projects and editing roles.
